Hey friends, I’m popping in to share my latest creation, a beautiful crochet afghan!
“A crocheted piece is the lovely manifestation of a thought, expressed through hand, heart, hook, and yarn.” – Francine Toukou (crochetconcupiscense.com)
I worked this beauty up over 4 months in the early morning and late night hours. Being my most challenging piece yet, it required meticulous work… and since it was a wedding gift, it also had a deadline. My patience is always tested with big projects like this, but I challenged myself to enjoy the process. I worked one row here and another row there, and slowly but surely it came along.
“Crochet is such a wonderful craft. There are so many facets and variations to explore with a hook and some yarn. The creative possibilities are endless.” – Margaret Hubert (crochetconcupiscence.com)
It’s worked with a combination of patchwork and rows. To begin, I crocheted 30 individual hexagons, then sewed them into 3 strips of 10.
Next, I added rows to both sides of each strip, making 3 large columns.
To finish, I combined the three columns together and added fringe.
“If more people knitted and crocheted, the world would see fewer wars and a whole lot less road rage.” – Lily Chin (crochetconcupiscence.com)
The moral of the story is… Moms can have hobbies too! Sure, we can’t hibernate all weekend long with our yarn and hot cocoa like we used to. But we can reserve a little time each day for the things we enjoy.
