Boy, do I have the best kept secret in sleep to share with you today… BANANA TEA! My husband recently stumbled upon this recipe and we gave it a try over the weekend… LET.ME.TELL.YOU! It’s incredibly delicious, soothing and relaxing!
This all natural tea is made from over ripe bananas, boiled in water. The secret lies in NOT peeling the banana. Rather, cut the ends off as shown in the picture below. We discovered this recipe from David Wolfe’s post, Better Than That Sleeping Pill-Banana Cinnamon Tea For Deep Sleep. In his article he explains that bananas are rich in potassium and magnesium, and both aid in relaxing muscles. The banana peel actually has more potassium and magnesium than the banana itself, which is why we leave it intact while preparing this tea.
Snip the ends of 2 bananas and add them to 8 cups of boiling water. Continue to boil for 10 minutes. Strain any pulp. Sprinkle with cinnamon (great for insulin stabilization and anti inflammation) and add sweetener if desired.
