What are you making Dad or Grandpa this Father’s Day? Today, I’m sharing a brief tutorial on how I created these personalized Lucky You’re My Dad and Lucky You’re My Gampy scratcher gifts. Because what Dad wouldn’t love a stack of scratchers along with a little something handmade from you? I’ve also included a few ways your little ones can help with this project, so that it might be a creative family affair.
I’m pretty sure this was a Father’s Day gift to be remembered for my own husband and Dad. My husband said it reminded him how lucky he is to be a Dad. My Dad called it, “Such a fun gift!” We have the the jumbo clothespin clipped to a photo display in our home. It would also make a great paperweight for the office. You could even glue a magnet to the back and stick it on your fridge for reading a recipe or displaying your child’s artwork.
All you’ll need are a jumbo clothespin, paint and sponge brush, photo prints, scissors, mod podge, the free printable I’m offering below, white cardstock and some scratchers. Let’s get started!

First you’ll need a Jumbo Wooden Clothespin and some Green Acrylic Paint.
Carefully remove the spring and paint both pieces green (let the kids help here). If needed, take a piece of sandpaper and smooth out any imperfections.
Next, print your printable on white cardstock and cut it to fit in exactly to the middle of your clothespin. Mine measured 4 inches by just under 2 inches. Apply a thin layer of mod podge to the middle front of the clothespin. Press down your printable and use your finger to smooth out any bumps, taking special care around the edges. Cut your photo prints to measure exactly the length and width leftover on each side and adhere with mod podge in the same fashion.
Once dry, add a final, thin coat of mod podge all over the top of the photo prints and printable (I let Dutch help me apply this coat). Allow to dry, then carefully replace the spring. Stuff scratchers in your clothespin and gift to the lucky Dad!
