Crochet Newborn Headbands

Hey everyone, I’m popping in today to share these pretty crochet newborn headbands with you. I recently made them as a gift for a good friend, who is also an expecting Mommy of a precious baby girl. They were such a pleasure to create, and I have to say… easy enough for even the beginner crocheter. Today I’m sharing a step by step tutorial with links to the free patterns I used. Enjoy!

Some helpful tips:

I enjoyed using Caron’s Acrylic Yarn in Peach and Hot Pink for this project. The feel is soft for baby but firm enough to work up into a pretty design.

Crochet Infant Headbands

Materials:

• Medium Weight Acrylic Yarn in Peach & Hot Pink by Caron
• Size H Crochet Hook
• Elastic Hair Tie
• Decorative Button
• Scissors
• Needle
• Thread

Instructions:

To start, download the free patterns for the headband here and the accent flower here.

Headband:

Start with your beginning chains and hair tie, then crochet around the hair tie to attach. Turn and continue to crochet according to the pattern.

You’ll see that the pattern offers 5 sizes from newborn up to 24 months. Crochet the headband to the specified length.

Attach the headband to the other end of the hair tie, being careful not to twist your work. Weave in ends.

Accent Flower:

I followed the pattern exactly for the accent flower, except that I eliminated the 3rd layer. I felt that the size I achieved after only 2 layers was perfect for the headband.

After the first layer, the pattern will ask you to work in the back of the petals to begin the second layer. I’ve included a picture here that might help.

Once you’ve achieved the desired size, sew the decorative button to the center of the flower, then sew the flower to the headband.
